Match Campaign Surpassed

We did it! over $50,000 in two months, yielding ANOTHER $50,000. Endless thanks to everyone who helped out, large donations or small, cash or promotion. Additional thanks to Patronicity and the MEDC for allowing us to participate in your great program. This potentially cuts years off of our fundraising process.

While our Patronicity page is closed, you can continue to donate through the Keweenaw Community Foundation. We can absolutely use every dollar we can get between now and construction, intended by Spring 2018.

We're getting a skatepark, Houghton!

$50,000 Match from the MEDC

Big news. The Michigan Economic Development Corporation, via Patronicity.com, has given Houghton MI Skatepark the opportunity to participate in a campaign to receive a $50,000 match.

The match comes in the form of a crowdfunding campaign. If you donate to Houghton MI Skatepark from now through June 9th, the MEDC will match your donation, but ONLY if we reach our fundraising goal of $50,000. If we raise $49,000, we don't receive a dollar in matching funds. If we reach the goal, phase one funding for the skatepark will be finished in time for construction this summer/fall.

If you have considered donating to the skatepark, but haven't donated yet, NOW is the time. FYI, you don't only need to donate via Patronicity. All donations will count toward the match, including purchases made at our 2nd annual art auction this Thursday. Please follow us on Facebook for up-to-date news and share this link with your friends!

Tony Hawk Foundation Donates $10,000

We are honored to receive $10,000 from the Tony Hawk Foundation. Having helped open more that 500 skateparks across the country, THF is the leading advocacy organization supporting local grassroots efforts, and has provided guidance and training to skatepark groups for more than fifteen years. The Houghton MI Skatepark is one of six projects funded this round, among Livingston, Montana, Providence, Rhode Island, Gallup, New Mexico, Grinnell, Iowa, and Belgrade, Montana. This is the largest single donation to the skatepark to date and a hefty motivational boost coming from such a reputable source. Read more at the Keweenaw Community Foundation.

GatorBar Donation From Neuvokas

Neuvokas, manufacturer of GatorBar rebar out of Ahmeek, MI, has committed to a large discount on rebar as well as a $1000 monetary donation to the Houghton, MI Skatepark! We estimate the donation values at $6500 toward our final fundraising goal. We're excited about the opportunity to collaborate with local businesses and use local products in the skatepark. If you are interested in providing similar gift-in-kind donations, don't hesitate to contact us!
